Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The latest chapter finished on a huge suspense moment and presented the premier party of characters who will branch out from the main group to undertake their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the events of the latest installment demonstrate why these specific adventurers are best suited for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the party understands precisely where to head next after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his own means, entering the secret base, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The traitor then paid off his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each member has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and advises that it is a hostile environment.
- The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the fighter and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could assist the team reach places they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The fighter swore a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him anywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The cleric turned against the powerful family and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The target is wanted dead by the family.
This leaves them few options but to journey toward Timmony in search of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
From the recent installment’s follow-up content, we discover that the combat party will be absent the following episode, leaving the rest of the cast members to assemble the Questers and Strategists groups.
Fans can expect learning which characters will be in which group in the season’s last Overture episode, streaming live on next week.
