It's difficult for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

We're talking about the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to another six T20 titles, and once went nearly four years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a squad that has won it all.

That it took up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the largest in the female 50-over format, is, in truth, a compliment to the pitchers that have represented Australia over the last half-century.

It's challenging for their batsmen to hold a record if not afforded the opportunity.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia conceding 330 was leader Alyssa Healy being given a platform to create her newest gem.

Originally famous as the young family member of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 championship victory came three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have come from 10 tries across formats.

The tough gloveman was also there in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India temporarily stopped the winning streak.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the title decider and was named player of the tournament. She made sure her country would not fail again.

If this latest epic knock surpassed that earlier display can be debated.

Some will argue the argument supporting championship match pressure. Different voices suggest with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this century was considerably tougher to see coming.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she led the batting statistics, but this performance was preceded by six games in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've been watching me in the nets, it was a challenging time because it appeared my form was missing completely," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts take over and you just lock into the match."

Healy's competitiveness has consistently been her major advantage - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, dismissed by the 22-year-old seamer in every game, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

A single came off the opening delivery and from that point the batsman was on her way.

"The possibility to play and engage in competition with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 balls - her quickest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 as she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

By the time she was out the team needed 66 more at run per delivery - an unconquered height now needing a comfortable finish.

"Pursuing 330 is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the belief to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, should it happen, we believe we can succeed."

These statements will be the final thing competing nations at this tournament want to hear.

During the last week a feeling they will win from any position has only strengthened - this victory succeeding win against Pakistan by 107 run margin despite being 76-7 at a certain moment.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in ten days, by which point a last-four spot may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

But while she subsequently acknowledged those fitness problems have delayed consideration of ending her career, this championship is likely to be her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is hasn't yet secured an international tournament as captain.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
